पाना पर्चा Vol. 3 - A Discussion on 'When the Land Remembers'

पाना पर्चा is a reading circle-style event where students come together, having read a designated piece of writing, to engage in a meaningful dialogue with their peers. This formal-informal exchange of conversation is to house diverse ideas and encourage intentional conversations.

पाना पर्चा Volume III: a book discussion series is happening. This time, students will be exploring ‘ When the Land Remembers’, an anthology of 6 narrative essays, that grew out of conversations from the Indigenous Women’s Writing Residency by 'The Pomelo'.

The conversations will fuel a पर्चा about the zine that can serve as a documentation of our conversation and encourage more readers to engage with the text.

The Pomelo is a Himalayan digital publication platform centering stories and reflections from places often left out of national and global conversations. Their writing residency ‘When the Land Remembers’ brought together indigenous women from across Nepal to reflect, remember, reimagine, and write about their relationship with land, water, forest, and home.

‘When the Land Remembers’ reimagines land beyond a physical territory – as a living, breathing part of our memories and identities. The zine reminds us how the land transcends time and space, connecting us beyond any physical boundaries. It ties together voices of indigenous women from across Nepal, weaving them together to leave behind their stories of loss, resistance and homecoming. In this edition of पाना पर्चा, we hope to center our conversations around the lived experiences of indigenous women, whose identity, culture and ways of being have been sanctioned and oppressed throughout time.
