Held on May 30 and 31, Nepal Business Gabfest 2018 brought together students, professionals, and entrepreneurs under the timely theme "Nepal Recently: Business, Politics, Governance, and IT." Organized by the IT Club and Management Club of Thames International College, the event provided a dynamic forum to reflect on the nation's shifting socio-economic environment and the evolving role of business and technology.
The event featured engaging panel discussions and plenary talks that challenged participants to think critically about ethics, governance, and digital security. Highlights included topics on ethics, profitability, bureaucracy and nation development, cybersecurity, consumer protection, and Nepal's economic outlook—each offering unique perspectives on the opportunities and tensions shaping Nepal's development.
Complementing these conversations were high-energy competitions and skill-based workshops such as the Appathon, the "I Have an Idea" business pitching challenge, Stock Market Basics, and Management Games. A FIFA gaming competition added an element of fun and camaraderie, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere throughout the event.
Nepal Business Gabfest 2018 continued the tradition of bridging academic theory with real-world relevance. By promoting dialogue, innovation, and practical learning, it empowered students to think beyond the classroom and engage actively with the complex realities of Nepal's business and governance sectors.
