This took place in two different phases:
I.Reading Circle on Nepal’s Healthcare System
A reading circle was conducted focusing on Nepal’s healthcare system to encourage critical discussion and collective learning among participants. During the session, students engaged with selected readings that explored various aspects of healthcare in Nepal, including accessibility, disparities between rural and urban healthcare services, limitations in infrastructure, and the broader social and economic factors that influence health outcomes.
Participants actively discussed the readings and shared their perspectives, creating an open and collaborative learning environment. The discussion allowed students to reflect on the strengths and challenges of the healthcare system while also considering the lived realities of healthcare access in different parts of the country. Through this exchange of ideas, participants were able to deepen their understanding of public health issues within the national context.
The reading circle ultimately served as a preparatory platform for a later discussion session with visiting students from the University of Copenhagen, enabling participants to engage in a more informed and meaningful conversation about Nepal’s healthcare system.
II.Discussion Session
An interactive discussion session was held with visiting students from the University of Copenhagen, creating a platform for cross-cultural dialogue and exchange of ideas. The session focused on comparing perspectives from the East and the West on a variety of topics, including healthcare systems, social structures, cultural values, and approaches to wellbeing.
Participants from both groups actively engaged in conversation, sharing insights from their respective contexts and reflecting on the similarities and differences in societal practices and policies. The discussion encouraged open dialogue and mutual learning, allowing students to broaden their understanding of global perspectives and challenges.
In the second half of the program, participants took part in a mindful heritage walk in Patan. The walk guided the group through historically significant sites, offering an opportunity to experience the cultural and architectural richness of the area while reflecting on the historical context of the city. The activity encouraged participants to slow down, observe their surroundings, and engage with heritage spaces in a thoughtful and reflective manner.
Overall, the event fostered meaningful cultural exchange while combining academic discussion with experiential learning through the exploration of Patan’s historic landscape. This gave students ample space to explore differences across cultures and context.
