Handmade gifts are the purest form of expressing love, full of time, dedication, emotion, effort and dedication throughout each step. This year, to celebrate Valentine's Day, the Kriye Club of Thames hosted Blooming पत्र: A Pipe Cleaner Flower Making Workshop on the 8th of February, 2026 where students could use their creativity, slow down and create something with their hands full of emotions. Each handmade bloom became a symbol of affection, whether it was crafted for a loved one, a friend, or as an expression of self-love.
The workshop guided students through the process of learning to make three flowers: a lily, a rose and forget-me-not flowers. Lilies symbolise purity, love and devotion, roses symbolise love, romance and passion, while forget-me-not flowers symbolise true love, remembrance and loyalty, each flower meaningful for Valentine's Day. There was an array of supplies, and the facilitators from the Kriye club guided the students step by step in making the flowers while leaving space for their own creativity and adding their personal touch.
The primary purpose of the event was to create a meaningful and creative space for students to express love and appreciation through handmade art. By organizing the pipe cleaner flower-making workshop, the Kriye team aimed to encourage personal expression, emotional connection, and creativity in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The event sought to move beyond commercialized expressions of love and instead promote thoughtful, handcrafted gestures that carry intention and sincerity. Additionally, it provided students with an opportunity to relax, connect with peers, and engage in a wholesome, artistic experience within the college community.
The loving and cozy atmosphere made the entire experience feel wholesome and truly fulfilling. An additional wrapping station was set up where students could carefully wrap their handmade flowers, adding an extra touch of thoughtfulness to their creations. This small yet enjoyable activity made the experience even more special and memorable. The event concluded at 4:30 pm, with participants leaving not only with their handcrafted flowers in hand, but also with hearts full of warmth and joy.
Participants shared heartfelt testimonials:
“Honestly, while making the flowers, it felt like my inner child was genuinely happy and at the same time, it made me realize that the “adult” version of me had unconsciously stereotyped the idea that guys shouldn't be in workshops like this so I am grateful for Kriye Club for this opportunity ,” said Gaurab, a participant.
“It was such a fun and refreshing experience. The facilitators were extremely patient and supportive, making sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the session. I really enjoyed learning the different techniques for flower making. It was both a creative and relaxing experience. I would definitely love to participate in more workshops like this in the future.” shared Neeva, a participant.
