The Sports Club of Thames International College organized “The Games of Thames (GOT) 2026’ to promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among students. The event aimed to provide students with a platform to showcase their sporting abilities, encourage active participation in both indoor and outdoor games, and strengthen interaction among students as well as between students and faculty members through sports activities.
This took place in two different phases:
Phase I:
Phase I of Games of Thames 2026 was conducted as the GOT Futsal Tournament from 23rd January to 25th January 2026 at Dhanyentari Futsal, Pahelo Pul. The tournament commenced on 23rd January with 18 league matches played on the first day. All participating teams were evenly matched, making the games highly competitive and entertaining. The venue was filled with enthusiasm as students actively supported their teams, creating a lively sporting atmosphere.
On the second day, the remaining league matches and quarterfinals were conducted. A major highlight of the day was the Teachers vs Students match, held before the quarterfinals, which added excitement and strengthened the bond between faculty members and students.
The third and final day featured semi-final matches, a girls’ match. The final match between Lumbini Lions and Pokhara Panthers was closely contested, with Lumbini Lions emerging as champions and Pokhara Panthers securing the runner-up position. Man of the Match awards were presented after every game, the Best Player Award was awarded to Satya Karki and the Top Scorer Award to Binay Malla. The tournament concluded with a medal distribution ceremony.
Phase II:
Phase II of Games of Thames 2026 was conducted on 19th and 20th February 2026 at Thames International College. The first day featured a wide range of indoor and outdoor games, including badminton, girls’ volleyball, sack race, spoon and marble race, musical chair, chess, table tennis, tug of war, dodgeball, and basketball. Each game witnessed enthusiastic participation and energetic support from students, creating a vibrant and an engaging environment.
On the second day, events such as badminton, girls’ dodgeball, table tennis, sack race, basketball, and boys’ volleyball were conducted. Prize distribution for each game was conducted immediately after the completion of the respective events, ensuring timely recognition of winners.
The Games of Thames 2026 successfully enhanced student engagement, teamwork, leadership, and coordination skills. Participants gained valuable exposure to competitive sports while demonstrating discipline, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship.
