Thames Alumna and Faculty Barsha Tamang Selected for Prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)

We are proud to share that our alumna, Barsha Tamang, was selected for the highly prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) under the theme "Technology Innovator Education in the Digital Age," hosted by the U.S. Embassy Nepal and the U.S. Department of State.

As part of this esteemed exchange program, Barsha traveled across four U.S. states, engaging with leading academic institutions including the University of Rhode Island, Brown University, and the University of Kentucky. Alongside participants from 12 different countries—representing sectors such as government, business, academia, and innovation—she explored emerging trends in educational technology and the integration of artificial intelligence in learning environments.

The IVLP is the U.S. government's flagship professional exchange initiative, running since 1940. Over 230,000 global leaders have participated in the program, including more than 500 heads of state, 12 Nobel Laureates, and over 1,600 Cabinet Ministers. Participants are nominated exclusively by U.S. Embassies, with no direct application process; making Barsha's selection an exceptional honor and a proud milestone for Thames International College.

Through this experience, she gained valuable insight into the evolving global landscape of technology and AI in education, while also building lasting international networks and contributing to critical global conversations on digital innovation. In addition to her IVLP achievement, Barsha has also been honored with the Princess Helen Shah Award in 2022. She is the co-founder of Lokopakar, a youth-led initiative promoting self-growth and leadership among young people.
