An annual flagship event of Thames International College, Nepal Social Work Symposium 2023 once again served as a dynamic platform to bridge the gap between knowledge and action. Organized by the School of Social Sciences and the Social Work Club of Thames, this year's symposium embraced the powerful theme: Respecting Diversity Through Joint Social Action.
Held on May 25 and 26, the symposium brought together an impressive mix of voices, from passionate social activists and visionary political leaders to mental health advocates, researchers, and esteemed academicians. This year's sessions carved out critical truths of Nepalese society, exploring pressing issues such as diversity in classrooms, caste and class dynamics, gender and politics, and more.
Through plenary sessions, panel discussions, and interactive engagements, the symposium encouraged dialogue across disciplines, promoting diverse perspectives and collaborative thinking. At its core, the event reminded us that respect for diversity and commitment to social action are not abstract ideals—they are actionable goals.
With the collective insight and resolve displayed throughout the symposium, participants and attendees moved a step closer to a world where diversity is celebrated, social engagement is united, and transformative conversations are prioritized.
For Thames International College, the symposium is more than an event. It is a commitment to building a platform for meaningful dialogue, critical reflection, and collaborative action among students, educators, and professionals alike.
