On June 26, the Student Council of Thames International College, in collaboration with the Sustainability Club and Kriye Team, hosted the vibrant and creative "Upcycle Mela" in celebration of Environment Month, featuring the eco-conscious brand Rekriti.
This unique event offered students a meaningful, hands-on experience in sustainability by transforming their old jeans into stylish and functional items such as pouches, tote bags, and purses. With Rekriti's talented makers working their magic on-site using stitching machines at the upcycling booth, participants were guided through the transformation process, demonstrating how creativity and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. Students had the opportunity to choose their preferred bag design, making each creation feel personal and intentional.
By turning something old into something new, Upcycle Mela reminded everyone that environmental responsibility begins with small, thoughtful actions that can still be fun, fashionable, and deeply personal.
