Thames International College Hoists the Colors of Love, Acceptance, and Life

The month of June is widely recognized as a time to celebrate identity, inclusivity, and diversity—known to many as Pride Month. On June 1, in collaboration with The Q Initiative, Thames community came together in a powerful show of solidarity and commitment by hoisting the colors of the Pride Flag.

Students, faculty, and staff stood together as witnesses to this symbolic act, reflecting a shared dedication to nurturing a safe and accepting environment for all. This served not only as a celebration of LGBTQIA+ identities, but also as a reminder of the ongoing work needed to ensure equality and respect for everyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

With a visible show of unity, the flag-raising marked the beginning of a month-long recognition of Pride, encouraging dialogue, allyship, and affirmation throughout the college.

(The Q Initiative is a student-led movement by queer students dedicated to ensuring an inclusive, respectful, and empowering college environment. With a focus on equal treatment, awareness, and celebration of queer identities, the initiative strives to create a safe space where all students can embrace their authentic selves.)
