Upcycle Mela 2026

Upcycle Mela 2026 brought together creativity and sustainability through a hands-on learning experience organized by Rekriti in collaboration with the Student Council of Thames International College. The event encouraged participants to rethink textile waste by transforming old denim into functional and personalized products while gaining a deeper understanding of sustainable fashion practices.
Participants brought their old jeans and took part in an interactive upcycling workshop led by Rekriti's artisan team, where they learned the step-by-step process of creating their own denim pouches. After completing the pouches, students expressed their creativity by decorating them with fabric painting and printed patch appliqués, making each piece unique and personal.
Beyond the crafting activities, the event featured interactive exhibits and games that highlighted the environmental impact of textile waste and promoted mindful consumption. These activities encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of reusing and repurposing materials as practical steps toward a more sustainable lifestyle.

Students also had the opportunity to explore Rekriti's range of upcycled products and place discounted custom orders for items such as tote bags, fanny packs, laptop sleeves, and other accessories made from reclaimed denim. Overall, Upcycle Mela 2026 successfully combined environmental awareness with creative expression, inspiring participants to embrace sustainability through everyday actions and responsible fashion choices.
